Best Time to Visit Rajasthan
Rajasthan's desert climate makes timing genuinely important — this isn't a destination where "anytime works."
October to March: The Only Real Window
Daytime temperatures stay comfortable (18-28°C) and evenings are pleasantly cool, sometimes even cold in December-January. This is when nearly all travellers visit, so book palace hotels ahead.
April to June: Extreme Heat
Temperatures regularly cross 40°C, especially in Jaisalmer's desert region. We generally don't recommend this window unless you have no other option.
Monsoon (July-September)
Brings welcome relief from the heat and a greener landscape than most people picture for Rajasthan, though some desert-safari activities may pause during heavy rain.
Our recommendation
October to February gives you the most comfortable version of Rajasthan, with December-January ideal if you want cooler evenings for rooftop palace dinners.
